Age 70, of South Fayette Twp., on August 9, 2012. Beloved husband of Carol Underwood, loving father of Jan (Tammy) Underwood, Jr., Julian (Amy) Underwood, Terri Underwood and Dorsha Hale, grandfather of Lynn, Devin, Jordan, Brayden, Kaelyn, and Abrielle Underwood, Steven Walls, Shelton Johnson and Preston Hale III, great-grandfather of Payton Walls. Mr. Underwood was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Navy. Friends are invited to share in a Memorial Service, Monday, 9:30 AM, in the Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333). Interment to follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies View and add condolences at: www.warcholfuneralhome.com

Carol, Julian & Amy, Kae & Abby, Jay & Tammy, Lynn, Devin, Jordan, Brayden: Words cannot express how deeply saddened I was to hear of this news. I am so sorry for your loss. I appreciate having had the opportunity to have known Jan. He was a quiet, kind soul. It brought a smile to my face to see him at our family gatherings. He will be deeply missed. We wish there was a way to properly express our shock and sorrow for this death. We greatly loved Jan and miss the good times we had. We feel for the kids. Carol, you are in our thoughts and prayers.
