Age 82, of Finleyville, formerly of Bridgeville, on August 5, 2012. Beloved husband of the late Mary Ann Dominick, loving father of Janet (Mike) Cushma and the late Major Robert Carchidi, U.S.A.F. and his wife Sandra Carchidi Major, who survives, grandfather of Stephen and Daniel Padgelek, Krista(Carchidi) Stoecker, Ryan Carchidi Major and Michael Cushma, brother of Virginia (Glen) Alderson and former husband of Marianne (Karpinski) Carchidi. A veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Carchidi was an Allegheny County Fire Fighter for over 40 years, retiring as a Captain at Pittsburgh International Airport. He was instrumental in creating the North Park Fire Academy and served on the board of Retired Fire Fighters of Allegheny County, Local #1038, after his retirement. An avid musician, Fritz played in several polka and German bands and was a member of the Western PA Button Box Club, Teutonia Mannerchor Singers and Community Band South. Friends received Wednesday, 2-9 PM, in the Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333). A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, 10 AM, in Holy Child Parish. Entombment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
