Stankus
Leo Sr.

Age 90, of Upper St. Clair, on August 4, 2012. He was born on October 29, 1921 in Fairhaven, PA. A son of  Kaszmir and Magdeline Laukitus Stankus. On October 23, 1948, he married Claranna Heaps, who died September 19, 2008. A veteran of WWII, serving as a Staff Sergeant in the 29th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. Mr. Stankus was awarded 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star Medal. He fought in the invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He enjoyed gardening and was the last of his immediate family. Surviving are five children; Denise (the late Carl) Martin, Linda (Robert) Rall, Leo (Michele) Stankus Jr., Charles (Sandra) Stankus and Alena (Robert) Loiselle, also 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.Friends received Tuesday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM, in the Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 9:30 AM, in Holy Child Parish, with the Rev. Richard C. Yagesh as celebrant. Interment to follow with full military honors in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.

Linda- I want to extend to you and your entire family my heartfelt thoughts and prayers at this time of the loss of your father, Leo. I remember him from back in high school, and had much respect for him.
I will keep him and you in my prayers.
